dear sir,
Sorry to disturb , but i made a lot of unsuccessful attempts in
installing espresso and sis and hence giving this trouble . i work on a
pentium machine with linux on it. i downloaded sis-1.2.tar.Z ,
sis-1.2.1.tgz( for i386) and
espresso from UC Berkeley site.
1) espresso - after expanding the files how to get executable file. If
Makefile
is run following errors are
shown
[nayan@iml5 espresso]$ Makefile
./Makefile: all:: command not found
./Makefile: -mkdir: command not found
rm -f ../include/utility.h
cp utility.h ../include/utility.h
cp: cannot create regular file `../include/utility.h': No such file or
directorymake: *** [../include/utility.h] Error
1
./Makefile: cd: 19551i: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.
./Makefile: cd: 19551i: No such file or directory
etc
2) sis-1.2.1.tgz
after expanding following files/directories are created
bin +COMMENT +CONTENTS +DESC lib man +MTREE_DIRS sis-1.2.1.tgz
in the bin directory
even after changing modes of files to 700, none of the files as espresso
runs
[nayan@iml5 bin]$ espresso apla
bash: ./espresso: No such file or directory
what are the +X files
3) sis-1.2.tar.Z
do i need the patch file. it is not getting ftp'd and if after copy and
paste it is made to run ( patch < patchfile )then lot of errors result.if
makefile is run, still errors result, do i need this sis or above option
