Just a mail to complete an old thread of the vis-usrs list.

The rest of this thread got lost. The problem was that Kathi had a
compiler called cc that was really gcc. The configure script went by
name, and tried to use gcc with cc options.

We figured this out by looking at the output of the configure command.

Moral: be truthful about the naming of your C compiler.
